The Shop

Welcome to
the heart of our business.
You
know the old saying, "They don't make 'em like they used to?" This rings
very true for us with some of our tools of the trade. Most of the hand tools and
machinery we use today are 100 years old or better, some coming out of retirement
from antique collections. This is also how we are able to achieve the very high
quality and longevity of all our handcrafted products, the same high quality that
you expect in your Antiques today.

The proprietor, Richard Mocon, has been a saddle and harness maker by trade
for more than 40 years, and drawing on this experience is able to produce or repair
most anything made of leather, vinyl, nylon or canvas.

In
this photo, we have used a standard shirt pattern and a light
deerskin to produce a very light but durable garment.
These can be made any size, with pockets or without and the
suede leather turned anywhere for a nice contrast. This deerskin
shirt may also have a variety of different fasteners on
the front, bone buttons, domes, antler slices or brass buttons.
This shirt comes with antler slices buttons, a suede yolk
line on the front and back, and has one pocket on the chest.

We not only manufacture most of the leather products in the store, but we also
repair a vast array of things that are not listed. To give you some idea....items

Step into the
Past

Experience
a Store like no other with a visit to High Spring Trading Post, and don't
forget your camera! Outside
our shop is likened to walking down the boardwalk porch of an original Frontier
Town in the early 1800's. Each store front is done to the old style stores you
would have found in a Frontier Town of that era. It's complete with a Saloon,
Mercantile, Barber Shop and Jail to the Ladies of the Evening hanging over the
balcony of Big Lizzies. Not forgetting the all-important Undertaker and Used Clothing
store, you can shop for some slightly used clothing with the odd bullet hole and
black powder stain. Don't forget to visit Boot Hill, our local grave site which
is home to some notorious outlaws of the old west, they'd be happy you dropped
by. Right next door is the beautiful Indian Village complete with several large
painted Tee Pee's and 40-ft Wooden Totem Poles. At the front gate as you come
in you will also pass Old Fort Ricjo, complete with towers and a horse drawn canon.
As you enter our 5200sq foot showroom, don't be surprised to be greeted by our
live talking crow, Peter. Peter came to us injured and nearly blind 12
years ago from a local zoo. As you can see in the photo he is loose to do as he
pleases and talk to anyone who will listen. He may say "Hello", "Pick
up that pail", "So what!", "Scotty", and "Bad fellow",
to you, and if you tell him a good joke he will even chuckle at it.
A
big "Howdy" awaits you from our family as we're always looking for
an excuse to stop work and chat to all who enter our store. You may also view
the leather products being made in the work shop area of the store. We take custom
orders from all over the world for all types of things made of leather, from pig
harness to equipment for dogs, cats and horses to all types of leather clothing
for humans. We are also constantly doing repairs to a wide variety of leather,
canvas and nylon items. So stop by and say hi, we'd love to have ya!
